Setting off on the 16th August, I am going to cycle from Berixton, London to the Champs-Elysees, Paris for Many Ogilvy Hands.
After some of my training routes cycling across half of Southern England I’m actually as worried about the navigation than the distance, and that’s before we get started on my conversational French.
Completing the journey in a group of four our first day will also be our longest taking us 80 miles from London down to the cliffs of Dover. After nights rest we have another early start catching a ferry from Dover to Calais, this will mean arriving in France late morning and racing through the French countryside arriving 75 miles later in Abberville before sunset.
Our third day will give us a full day cycling in France and with 60 miles to cover we can cover the distance at a more civilised pace, so long as we haven’t injured ourselves on the first two manic days, as we make our way down to our second French town Beauvais.
Our final day is the city run into Paris, we are hoping to arrive at the Eiffel Tower for early afternoon giving ourselves a couple of well earned hours rest at a nearby cafe before we check into our hotel for the night.
Wish me luck and even most importantly sponsor the incredibly worth while work being done in Buikwe, Uganda.

Les Watts, Redworks Studio, Ogilvy, Canary Wharf.
I was very apprehensive when I volunteered to go on one of these trip and really did not know what to expect at all. I am so glad that I took the plunge and I can honestly say that it is one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life. The whole idea is fantastic and it its such a leveller for everyone on the team. It was enjoyable for all different reasons. It was happy, emotional and a real good laugh at times. To see the difficult way these people live really makes you take a grip on your own life and how you make your own decisions. Above all, that kids really appreciate any help that we are able to give. Amazing time and really worthwhile.

Hi, I’m Dave, I’ve been at O&M Advertising for over three years now.
I’ve never done this kind of thing before but it was always a regret of mine for not doing before I got into working life. To have the opportunity to take part with Ogilvy is fantastic so I jumped at the chance. I’ll let you know how it’s going on twitter!

Hello.
I’m Robin and I’ve been interested in the MOH project since it was first announced last year.
Now I am fortunate enough to be involved on the June trip and can’t wait to get stuck in on the site.
By the looks of things the previous groups have done a great job so I’m looking forward to painting a giant, semi-religious mural of myself where the chalk board should be.
If you believe in my cause please donate at;

Hi, I’m Katie. I’ve been at Ogilvy for almost 3 years and seen the Many Ogilvy Hands project come to life over the past year.
I wanted to get involved when I saw what a huge impact it would have on the community of Buikwe and the hundreds of kids who would have the chance to get a decent education because of it. The work that has been done so far is amazing and I’m really excited to be part of this next phase and beyond.

I have seemingly jumped on the Many Ogilvy Hands Ugandan bandwagon at the last minute and couldn’t be happier.
For me, the great thing about the project is being able to get involved in the ground work, as well as getting to meet the people who you will be helping directly. Not only will the team be fund-raising continuously over the coming months, but we’ll also be getting our hands dirty on the building site in return for your support. I have decided to write a blog whilst I’m out there, which I will post online when we return. I’ll make sure to bare all and be completely honest, so we can give everyone at home a true idea of our experiences out on the project.

So, my husband works in construction but as some of you know, anything he can do I can do better!
I have decided to be a part of this initiative because I want to help other children have the opportunities that mine automatically have. I have two girls, aged 3yrs and 5yrs, and they are able to receive free fulltime education until the age of 18. Typically, children in Uganda finish school at 14yrs and go back to helping their parents work the land/manual jobs. I want to help change that and give children the opportunity to continue their education, so they can ultimately go to university, and follow their dreams to become lawyers, doctors, teachers – whatever career path they choose.
I can’t wait to get involved and get building, and also to meet everyone out in Uganda who is part of this exciting initiative. It looks like an amazing country to visit, and I can’t believe I will be there and helping out on the project very soon.
It has also been great fun raising sponsorship money and raffle prizes for the project. I have yet to do a sponsored spinning (cycling class) in the office, where I am going to ride a highly customised fancy dress style bike.
It’s going to be quite a sight! And I don’t know how I am going to cope with the sponsored silence…

Hi I’m Sarah and I’ve been working at OgilvyAction for nearly two years now.
I’ve wanted to be part of this project since the beginning and can’t believe I finally have a chance to go out to Uganda.
I’ve previously spent time working in schools in Budapest and New Zealand, but this will be my first experience of not only Africa but also actual manual labour! To physically help build a school for these children is going to be an incredible experience, and I can’t wait to get out there and also to meet Bridget, a little girl I am funding to attend school through International Needs.
So many friends and family have already been incredibly generous, but if you do feel a spare pound or two weighing down your pocket, please visit: http://www.justgiving.com.sarah-tegg
