So, my husband works in construction but as some of you know, anything he can do I can do better!
I have decided to be a part of this initiative because I want to help other children have the opportunities that mine automatically have. I have two girls, aged 3yrs and 5yrs, and they are able to receive free fulltime education until the age of 18. Typically, children in Uganda finish school at 14yrs and go back to helping their parents work the land/manual jobs. I want to help change that and give children the opportunity to continue their education, so they can ultimately go to university, and follow their dreams to become lawyers, doctors, teachers – whatever career path they choose.
I can’t wait to get involved and get building, and also to meet everyone out in Uganda who is part of this exciting initiative. It looks like an amazing country to visit, and I can’t believe I will be there and helping out on the project very soon.
It has also been great fun raising sponsorship money and raffle prizes for the project. I have yet to do a sponsored spinning (cycling class) in the office, where I am going to ride a highly customised fancy dress style bike.
It’s going to be quite a sight! And I don’t know how I am going to cope with the sponsored silence…
